Access Denied Message when signing into Citrix

if you have ever come across the “Access Denied” below message when signing into Citrix, there are a few potential areas you can check for a solution.

  • There is a good chance Access Denied error message is Citrix or RDS licensing related. Check Citrix Director Dashboard for any obvious issues. In the scenario below, the issue was the lack of licenses. Check further in Citrix Studio under the Licensing node, the licensing usage and if it had gone over the limit, you can log off some idle users to make room for others. if this situation repeats, it’s time for you buy additional licenses or make a consideration on what license type suits your business. Sometimes, CCU (concurrent) licenses work best, if your organization’s user count is greater than have the number of devices that they login from.
  • Another common occurrence of this issue is when users log back in too soon after they logoff. In that case, get them to wait a bit before they login (~ 10 secs) after they have logged off
  • If this is a new setup, I recommend you check the permissions on the profiles shares. Check if the CREATOR OWNER has full permissions on the profile share
